Checked baggage

Size, weight, authorized content, dangerous goods… Find out all you need to know about preparing your checked baggage in order to check in with ease.

Size and weight limits

Your baggage must not exceed:
- 158cm/62 in. (height + length + width), 32Kg/70 lb.
- a certain weight depending on your destination and travel class.

To avoid extra fees, we recommend that you check the authorized weight limit (also called the baggage allowance) for your flight.

A few tips

  • Before departure, choose resistant, rigid baggage if possible. Remember to remove all labels from prior trips, as they may impede the delivery of your baggage.
  • Visibly indicate your name, permanent address, destination address, and mobile telephone number on the inside and the outside of your baggage. Suitable labels are available at Air France check-in desks.
  • Avoid transporting fragile items in the hold. If you have no other option, ensure that these items are well protected.
Reminder
Baggage protection services are available at New York-JFK airport and at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.

Traveling with an infant

Will you be traveling with an infant under 2 years of age? For no extra charge and for all destinations, you may check 10Kg/22 lb. of baggage + one of the following 3 items: fold-up stroller, bassinet, or car seat.

Sports equipment, musical instruments…

Want to transport a pair of skis, surfboard, or a set of golf clubs in the hold? Need to bring along a stroller, musical instrument, or wheelchair? Special regulations and an extra fee apply to the transport of these items.
