Unaccompanied children

Is your child traveling alone? Air France staff will provide assistance at the airport, on board, and during connections to ensure your child´s comfort and safety.

Throughout the year, we offer an assistance service for children aboard all of our flights.
This service is also available on flights provided by HOP!*, Air Corsica and CityJet, as well as some partner airlines. For more information, please contact your booking service or travel agency.

* Only for children from 4 to 11 years of age on flights within metropolitan France or to a French overseas departments, and for children from 5 to 14 years of age on international flights.

Assistance for your child

Assistance conditions for children traveling alone (i.e. not accompanied by an adult) vary depending on the child´s age and travel destination.

Please note:
  • An accompanying adult may be under 18 years of age if he or she is the child´s father, mother, or legal guardian.
  • If your child is traveling on the same flight as you, but in a different travel cabin, this is considered traveling alone.
Air France also provides assistance for children with disabilities or reduced mobility, though some conditions apply. For more information, please contact Saphir , our service for passengers with reduced mobility.

Assistance suited to your child´s age and travel destination
Your child is traveling within metropolitan France or to a French overseas department or territory
  • Children from 4 to 11 years of age
    On flights within metropolitan France or to a French overseas department or territory*, children from 4 to 11 years of age who are flying alone are required to travel as Unaccompanied Minors (UM) and will be taken care of by Air France staff. These tickets are subject to special pricing.
  • Adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age
    Adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age who are flying alone can receive Air France assistance upon request. This service is optional and subject to an extra fee. Depending on the distance traveled, the guardian service fee can range from € 30to €90 per flight.
Your child is traveling on an international flight
  • Children from 5 to 14 years of age
    On international flights provided by Air France, children from 5 to 14 years of age who are flying alone are required to travel as Unaccompanied Minors (UM) and will be taken care of by Air France staff. These tickets are subject to special pricing. Depending on the distance traveled, the guardian service fee can range from €50 to €75 per flight.
  • Adolescents from 15 to 17 years of age
    Adolescents from 15 to 17 years of age who are flying alone can receive Air France assistance upon request. This service is optional and subject to an extra fee. Depending on the distance traveled, the guardian service fee can range from €50 to €90 per flight.

* On flights to French overseas territories, your child must be at least 5 years of age to travel alone.
