It all started in Africa. Legend has it that a young goatherd was out grazing his goats when he noticed his flock behaving rather strangely. Having eaten some unknown berries, the animals started prancing about frenetically. Intrigued, the young man decided to try this mysterious berry for himself. And that is how coffee was discovered.
Several centuries later and the drink is ubiquitous. From the farthest reaches of Asia to the gates of Europe and the American coasts, it is drunk worldwide. However, every population has developed its own recipes and sometimes even its own varieties, such as mocha in Yemen, maragogype in Mexico and sharp bourbon in La Réunion. There is a whole host of very unusual flavours to try in every corner of the world.
