At the theatre tonight

An international festival of francophone theatre that draws troupes and audiences from around the world, but especially from the Indian Ocean.

Started in France, on the island of Ré, in 2009, this francophone theatre festival has been held at Grand-Baie since 2014. Besides the shows in competition, produced by companies from the Comoros, Senegal, Madagascar, and Switzerland, there's a new children's theatre section called, surprisingly, the ‘Festival Kids'.  Almost everything is in French, but there is a bilingual adult theatre workshop, in English and French. Alongside the performances, there is a playwriting contest open to writers from throughout the Indian Ocean.
