The Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA) is a non-profit arts organisation whose mission is to display all forms of contemporary creation to the general public. From video installations to more engaging forms of militant arts, all creative scenes are represented according to many thematic exhibitions. The CoCA is also a crucial platform for emerging artists in the Seattle region and Northwestern United States.
Since its opening in 1980, the centre has successfully occupied various venues around the city. It is currently located in the Tashiro Kaplan Building, also home to many artists' studios. Tashiro Kaplan is part of a major renovation project in the Pioneer Square Historic District. The studios may be visited upon request, offering a fascinating addition to the CoCA exhibition trail.
