Located in the Uptown district, the recently renovated hotel may hold both 1970s and contemporary overtones, but most of all exudes glamour. It was named after the oil derricks that dress up the Texan landscape. However, you are here as far as you can from the ranches and cow-boys clichés, even though there's a twist on some stereotypical figures like that multicoloured bull statue in the hotel lobby, mounted with the Lone Star Flag and the logo of the hotel.
Hotel Derek opts in favour of colour, of vivid tones preferably. From the bedrooms to the meeting spaces and the restaurant, shades multiply and give energy to the interior design. Among those you can spot a fuchsia signature chair, a bright red sofa, yellow and turquoise fabrics as well as sequined and ornamented bull statuettes, once again a wink to this tweaked folklore.
The hotel is comprised of 312 rooms and a restaurant – the Revolve Kitchen & Brew during breakfast and lunch hours, and the Revolve Bar as soon as night falls to enjoy cocktails or a glass of wine, and play a game of snooker.
