Discover the Amédée Lighthouse, perched upon its white sandy island.

About a 30-minute boat ride from Nouméa, Amédée Island is famous for its iconic 19th-century lighthouse.

Built to signal the entryway into Nouméa harbour, its metallic structure still shines as brightly as ever.
Climbing the 247 steps of the superb spiralling cast-iron staircase to the top of the lighthouse is highly recommended – you'll be rewarded with a 360° view over the lagoon's turquoise waters, the reef, and the Grande Terre mountains.
The islet, which is surrounded by a marine reserve, is also known for the beauty of what lies beneath – in addition to a myriad of fish, it's not unusual to snorkel past a few turtles. Enjoy an out-of-this-world experience with a buffet on the beach and all sorts of shows staged by the team at Mary-D.
Private yachts also regularly anchor around the islet to make the most of the gorgeous days.
Don't miss out on your chance to see if it's true what they say – that the sun always shines on the Amédée Lighthouse.
