Festival/Tokyo 2016

The 2016 edition of Festival/Tokyo promises 58 days of high quality theatre productions.

In the autumn, the most important annual performing arts event Festival/Tokyo floods most theatres in the Japanese capital. Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Owlspot Theatre, Nishi-Sugamo Arts Factory, Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park and other places welcome contemporary theatre mixed with music and dance for this 2016 edition.

Creators from all over Europe and Asia will rub shoulders with Japanese companies. This time the program is specifically highlighting Malaysia and its growing artistic scene.

Finally, the climax of the festival no doubt will be the long-awaited arrival of Polish director Krystian Lupa, coming to Japan for the first time, and who triumphed last year in France with an adaptation of Thomas Bernhard's Wycinka Holzfällen.
