George Benson in South Africa

George Benson in South Africa

The exceptional concert that George Benson will give on 15 June in Johannesburg is the last of three dates in South Africa.

No one can resist the dance floor as soon as the first chords of Give Me the Night or Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You glide out of the speakers. However, in addition to his hits from the disco era, George Benson has a repertoire to rival any artist. Having started his career working alongside Miles Davis, he was already a major success in the 1970s, with songs combining the melodies of jazz and funk, before making a turn towards pop. And at 73, this native of Pittsburgh still knows how to perform. More than half a century after he started to use his voice alongside his deft guitar work, he continues to wander the world, instrument in hand, to the tune of a hundred concerts a year. This spring, he stops for three dates in South Africa. On 11 and 12 June, he will be in Cape Town at Grand West Casino & Entertainment World, and on the 15 June he plays Johannesburg.
