Karl Blossfeldt exhibition at the Pinakothek

The botanical photography of Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) marks an important milestone in the history of this 20th-century art form.

n honour of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Karl Blossfeldt, the Ann and Jürgen Wilde Foundation and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich dedicate an exhibition to the life and work of this botanist who revolutionised botanical photography.

A hundred photos and a selection of large-scale collages, working papers, excerpts from correspondence, and drawings illuminate the personality and work of Blossfeldt, from his beginnings as a mould-maker in a foundry and professor at the Königliche Kunstgewerbeschule in Berlin up to the publication in 1929 of his most seminal work: Unique Forms of Art.
