Just up from Bastia's Vieux Port and not far from the Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Le Mademoiselle has won the hearts of everyone in Bastia in the space of just a few short years. Depending on your mood – and the weather! – you can head out of the Mediterranean heat into the welcoming, shady stone arches of the 200sqm dining room, or escape to the peace and quiet of vast patio, away from the vibrancy of Bastia's Terra Vecchia neighbourhood.
Once you have made this difficult choice, yet more await: although the pizzas alone are well worth a visit here, the tuna mi-cuit with mixed baby vegetables and wild rice timbale is also sure to pique your curiosity. Then – we hate to tell you – once you have eyed your neighbour's table, you'll also be torn between the confit lamb shanks with mashed potato, and the vegetable linguine in a truffle cream sauce… Fans of comfort food, meanwhile, will be sorely tempted by the braised octopus, which regulars will tell you is the best around. Then a sip of brama – a typical Corsican white wine – is all it takes for you to suddenly feel your very soul come alive with true, Corsican passion.
