Montpellier Marathon

In Montpellier, the classic 42-kilometre marathon is complemented by Nordic walking and other less strenuous activities.
The 2016 Montpellier marathon course begins at the Nombre d'Or square. It then heads northward to Castelnau-le-Lez, then south to the Palavas-les-Flots waterfront while passing through Lattes, Perols, and Carnon before returning to its starting point in the city. Maximum altitude: 50 metres; total ascent: 129 metres. The standard Marathon of the Sea can also be tackled through team effort, with each member taking on distances of between four and 11 kilometres. And a newcomer event this year is Nordic walking, which takes place in the historical centre, supervised by professionals. On Saturday, the day before the classic marathon, a 4-kilometre urban trail has been organised. Competitors are rewarded with a breakfast. There are also races organised for children (500-2,000 metres) and families (1000 metres)—giving you a good reason to pack a pair of running shoes.
