Movies, movies, movies!

Movies, movies, movies!

Why is the city of Cannes as famous as Hollywood? Because of its festival, of course! Its 69th edition welcomes the wide world of cinema, from May 11 to 22.

The Cannes Film Festival is the most publicised event in the world, attracting more attention than the Olympics and the US elections. Movie stars are the big draw, whether on screen or on the Croisette. The opening film this year is Woody Allen's Cafe Society, and the jury is chaired by George Miller, the father of Mad Max. Miller's passion for movies spreads well beyond his own brand of moviemaking, and people are already saying that this year's winners will surprise everyone. He will be joined on the jury by, among others, Arnaud Desplechin, Kirsten Dunst, Mads Mikkelsen, Donald Sutherland, and Vanessa Paradis.
