Daydreams and music at Roskilde, Denmark
Northern Europe's largest music festival still has something of the hippie spirit that has always been its thing since it was founded in 1971. Roskilde, a town not far from Copenhagen in Denmark, is gearing up to welcome over 130,000 music fans to its 47th festival.
From 30 June to 7 July, stake your place in front of the main Canopy stage and watch legendary headline acts such as Bruno Mars, Eminem, Gorillaz and David Byrne. Between one concert and the next, take a trip round the Dream City campsite; here, hundreds of utopian revellers pitch their tents and build a micro-society with a recycling system organised by participants and philosophical debates lasting long into the night. Alongside this idealistic campsite, the best skateboarders and rollerbladers from around the world will put on a show.
