Europe loves art, and artists return the compliment. Museums, foundations and art galleries abound with ideas so that the general public can become familiar with the greatest names in contemporary art.
At the start of 2017, between January and April, large European cities are hosting exhibitions and retrospectives that you really shouldn't miss. Air France Travel Guide suggests a tour of Europe on the theme of art.
London: Robert Rauschenberg at the Tate Modern
Save the date! The man who changed the world of art in New York is exhibiting at the Tate Modern until 2nd April. Venice: Damien Hirst at Palazzo Grassi
Damien Hirst doesn't need any introductions: remember The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, which included the emblematic shark suspended in formaldehyde, and For the Love of God, a cast of a human skull encrusted with diamonds? From 9th April, Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana will be presenting the artist's new project, the fruit of ten years of work, which will also underline the long relationship that unites Damien Hirst and the Pinault collection.

Paris: Cy Twombly at the Centre Pompidou
Cy Twombly, considered one of the most important painters of the second half of the 20th century, was very attached to cycles, to history. Until 24th April, the Centre Pompidou in Paris is paying homage to him by showing a retrospective, the size of which has never been produced before, covering the artist's entire career. In three cycles, the exhibition presents 140 paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs, from his first works influenced by primitive arts, graffiti and writing, to his most recent colour works.

Amsterdam: Jean Tinguely at the Stedelijk Museum
If you're a fan of new realism, if you admire the work of Marcel Duchamp, Alexander Calder or Niki de Saint Phalle, then you must have come across the curious machines of Jean Tinguely, made of metal and bicycle wheels. The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam gives you the chance to see once again these futile and imperfect machines, which sneer at materialism, in a retrospective titled "Machine Spectacle", which will end on 5th March 2017.
