The fifth edition of the Singapore Biennale

The Singapore Biennale highlights the richness of the Southeast Asian art scene.

Located in an old colonial building, the Singapore Art Museum has one of the finest modern and contemporary art collections in Southeast Asia. It is also distinguished by its Biennale, visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors. In just five years, the event has become the largest of its kind in this part of the world.

Entitled ‘An Atlas of Mirrors', the 2016 Biennale explores new art territory. Nearly 50 Asian artists have been carefully selected—including Ade Darmawan, Sakarin Krue-On, Hemali Bhuta, and Harumi Yukutake—all of whom focus on the singular complexity, strangeness, and beauty of the world around us. Throughout the four-month-long Biennale, many heritage locations in Singapore will be used to show artworks.
