The new, fashionable museum tour

The new, fashionable museum tour

Paris abounds with life, culture, and museums. It has more than 150 national, private, and municipal museums. Municipal museums charge no entrance fee to permanent collections.

With the abundance of institutions focussing on the history of the world, France, and the wealth of Paris, we will confine ourselves to museums that are particularly splendid, that have undergone inspired renovations, and which are renowned for their scenography.
For its reopening, the Rodin Museum offers a museum tour that focuses on the creative process in the jewel-box setting of the Hotel Biron, redone in Farrow & Ball colours.

In 2015, the Museum of Man at the Palais de Chaillot (1937) reopened, revealing a remodelled space and thematic exhibition rooms (anthropology, ethnology) after six years of closure and renovations that cost 90 million euros.

Finally, the Picasso Museum, in the very baroque Hotel Salé in the Marais, reopened in October 2014. The renovation, which cost 52 million euros, plays off transparencies between the original 17th-century building and the exhibition spaces. The furniture is by Diego Giacometti.
