The TV Tower at Alexanderplatz

Climbing to the top of this legendary tower offers incredible views of the whole city.

For a panoramic view of the city, visit the Berliner Fernsehturm, Berlin's TV Tower, a 368-m concrete column painted white. Inaugurated in 1969, it is the highest publicly accessible building in Europe. Its panoramic viewing floors at 203 and 207 m provide a magnificent view of the city and its monuments, such as the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, the Hauptbahnhof (central railway station), Museum Island, and Potsdamer Platz. Symbol of Communist East Berlin, it dominates Alexanderplatz and the avenues and blocks of flats of the Soviet era. Each year more than a million visitors from 86 countries make the climb. For the more courageous, there is a rotating restaurant in the globe on the very top of the tower, where you can have a full lunch or just a drink and a pastry.
